Our very own park - Adopt a Park

After 2 years of negotiating, we finally "took ownership" of a section of the Taylors Lakes Linear Park in 2016 - located at the corner of Parmelia Drive and Mawson Avenue in Taylors Lakes.

With weeding and mulch spreading our first task, we are geared up for ongoing maintenance, tree planting, beautifying and improving the area.

Location - corner Parmelia Drive and Mawson Avenue

Inititial works have been weeding and mulch spreading.

Clean Up Australia Day 2017

Naturally, with our own park area to care for, we spent a couple of hours on Clean Up Australia Day tidying our site and spreading more mulch. We were pleased that there wasn't too much rubbish around, however plastics in waterways is a real issue and can lead to contaminated and unhealthy environments for fish and other aquatic animals.

Community Garden at St. Lukes

The Community Garden is a project by St Luke's Anglican Church. Located on their land behind the new church building being constructed cornering Bellbird Avenue and Kings Road, the garden plots will be available to all community members and groups when completed. Our Taylors Lakes Lions club was approached to assist with construction and some ongoing support. A grant was arranged for some materials and the happy Lions and church team (pictured) was gathered to construct the initial 20 beds. Great teamwork, and a project now taking real shape!! A fantastic benefit to our community is soon to be realised.

So the finished product, ready for planting out!
