Lions Taylors Lakes Community Grants
The Lions Club of Taylors Lakes has pledged to conduct an annual round of grants, allowing local groups to access funds raised by the club, for an area of identified priority. As a service club, we raise funds within the community to help us to serve the community. All funds raised by our activities go back into the community to support recognised charities, Lions foundations and projects that directly impact on our local area.
We have a long term commitment to children and youth and have identified literacy as the priority for the round of grants in 2017.
This program offers financial assistance to local community groups wishing to improve the literacy skills (reading, writing and/or speaking and listening) of children and youth.
The focus of the program is on:
- The development of the writing, reading and/or speaking and listening skills of young people
- The provision of high quality literacy resources or opportunities to young people
- Organisations that have the capacity to utilise funding in such a way as to enhance literacy resourcing, access and development
Grants of up to $1,000 (including GST) are available, with a pool of $2000 allocated to the program for 2017.
Applicants must prove, through an application and, if successful, an evaluative report at the end of 2017, that there are genuine benefits to the development of the literacy skills of young people. Resources purchased through the project need to be accessed by groups of children or youth. The grants are not to be used for individuals. Applications that demonstrate that the resources will address young people who are at risk with their literacy skills will be favoured, as will applications that demonstrate a strong connection to families and the growth of literacy in the home.
Eligible applicants include:
- Kindergartens and child care organisations
- Primary schools
- Secondary schools
- Playgroups and other groups focussed on children’s development
Groups that are not educational institutions must prove that the expenditure of the grant will provide opportunities to children and youth to access resources that will assist their literacy development.
The applicant organisation must have an ABN registration or work closely with a service group or council that does (who will be required to auspice in order to manage the funds).
The grant is available to all appropriate organisations in the following suburbs:
- Taylors Lakes
- Keilor Downs
- Taylors Hill
